Letters regarding the Jews of the Zamość Entailed Estate

Three letters: In the first one (Zamość, 25 November 1721), the voivode of Kraków, Janusz Antoni Wiśniowiecki, instructs Fiszel Lewkowicz, the general scribe of the Crown Jews, that he should not charge the Zamość Entailed Estate Jews with a higher tariff of the poll tax, because otherwise he would prevent his son from becoming rabbi. In the next two letters, from the Crown treasury scribe [Kasper] Wagner to Fiszel (Warsaw, 6 November 1721) and to the Chełm-Bełz elders (Warsaw, 6 November 1721), Wiśniowiecki demands an end to the dispute between the Zamość Entailed Estate and the Chełm and Bełz elders which was continuing in spite of the concluded settlements (Piaski, 24 May 1721 and Lublin, 20 July 1721), resulting in non-payment of the assignations. He points out that the elders of Chełm and Bełz included in their allocation the communities that did not belong to them, i.e. Krasnobród, Modliborzyce, and Piaski. He reminds that the Crown treasury should receive monetary compensation for the abovementioned villages in accordance with the arrangements made by the parties involved in the dispute. He emphasizes the fact that in the matter of the excessive poll taxation of Biłgoraj Jews, the wife of the Lithuanian sub-chancellor [Izabela Czartoryska, nee Morsztyn] has already filed complaints with the Crown treasury.
